The band Capital Punishment formed when its members were teenagers, Capital Punishment self-released a blistering post-punk/industrial album in 1982 before going their separate ways upon graduation from high school. Frontman Kriss Roebling’s ancestors built the Brooklyn Bridge. Bassist Peter Swann went on to become a judge for the Arizona Court of Appeals. Guitarist Peter Zusi became a professor of Slavic languages. And drummer Ben Stiller became... Ben Stiller. Watch Pitchfork's documentary about Capital Punishment here.
Capital Punishment: Live at Le Poisson Rouge (2019)
Early in 2019, Capital Punishment came together and did a live performance at Le Poisson Rouge here in NYC. A rare event, given that is was over 35-something years since last they played together. Their story is often surprising and hilarious, and this cover happened in that same spirit; over food and drinks on a roof top in Brooklyn.
