In 2019, over 16,000 creations were logged.
For 19 years, to our delight, the creations steadily ticked in. This type of play with shapes seemed to hold a tremendous allure to the public. Perhaps it provided a typographic release of sorts? A chance to vent visually? The creations are incredibly imaginative, laborious and diverse. People who never might have been aware of typography before had meaningful interactions with letter forms and learned something about them while playing with them.

Type Is Art was a Flash based website created by Silo Design and JR Visuals. It was featured in numerous blogs and publications, such as PRINT Magazine, Rotovision and Buffalo Rising. This typographic exploration tool was based on Susanne Cerha's poster 'Parts Of A Character'. Products featuring Type Is Art creations are available at Silo's Zazzle shop.

The Flash Player was deprecated in 2017 and officially discontinued at the end of 2020. We are currently seeking funding to resurrect and expand this wonderful playful typographic experience.
